What the Heck is Really Going On?!
For some, making money comes easy.
For others, not so much.
For some, religion and spirituality tops material wealth.
For others, not so much.
For some, it is believed that God or the “Universe” wants each of us on Earth to be rich.
For others, for millions and millions of people, actually, that doesn’t make any sense at all; like the poor, the homeless, the sickly, the starving, and the dying who are suffering in every part of the world.
Somehow, it doesn’t fit that all these suffering people need to do is…
One Man’s Journey To Appreciation
I grew up during the 1960s and 1970s in the inner-city of Rochester, New York in a big Italian-American Catholic family. Both of my parents each had ten brothers and sisters and, as a result, every day was a party.
My father never made a lot of money, but we didn’t have a lot of bills. For a good portion of my childhood, we lived rent-free in the homestead of my mother’s family. It was a red-brick double house with a solid foundation of love. I lived on one side with my parents…
…the Sky’s the Limit
You can’t wait for people to give you one single opportunity; you have to make your own opportunities (in plural).
In other words, you have to blaze your own trail, without limitation, because the sky’s the limit.
Your potential to succeed with everything in life depends on you, and your initiative; your ability to make connections; to network, to create, to love, to choose wisely, to invest in all the right opportunities; to know the difference between a smart decision and a not-so-smart decision; and to have patience, understanding, and discretion along the way.
Of healthy and unhealthy choices
I’ve been intermittent fasting since I was a kid…before it was called intermittent fasting and became the hip and healthy thing to do. I just would always eat when I was hungry, and not when it was “time” to eat…for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
I never had breakfast before going to school, and while everyone else drank orange juice, I would insist upon grape juice. …
For millions of Catholics and Christians around the world, today is Palm Sunday, which marks the beginning of Holy Week, which leads to Easter Sunday.
For millions of Jews around the world, Passover also begins this week.
As a Catholic and a Christian, and as a friend to countless members of the Jewish faith, I am making a special request.
For just this week, please do not “Take the Lord’s Name in Vain.”
If I stub my toe or get gnarled in traffic, I may utter at times a not-so-encouraging-word or two. And I’m not proud of that.
The Golden Girls are Celebrated as Trailblazing Seniors for All Ages/Groups
The Golden Girls: Ageless is the title of the Reelz Channel’s new documentary on the classic 1980s sitcom that originally aired on NBC from 1985 to 1992.
As refreshingly frank and entertaining as one of Bea Arthur’s Dorothy Zbornak’s comedic zingers on the show it profiles, Ageless [which airs Saturday night, March 13th at 8:00 PM (PST) on Reelz), delivers a wallop of goods and pulls no punches.
Starring with Arthur on the original series (which inspired a failed Golden Palace sequel without the actress) was Rue McLanahan as…
Happy Golden Anniversary to the Trailblazing Classic TV Western
In the history of television westerns, Alias Smith and Jones stands out from the pack.
The small screen answer to the 1969 Paul Newman/Robert Redford feature film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Alias Smith and Jones combined a seriocomic premise and tone, entertaining stories, witty dialogue, ground-breaking cinematography, and likable performances.
The one-hour series presented a new form of TV western which was generated by the 1970 ABC TV-movie The Young Country produced by Universal Studios.
Produced, written, and directed by Roy Huggins of Maverick, The Fugitive, Renegade, and Run…
