‘Bewitched ‘ Before They Were Stars
Before they were famous, many of Hollywood’s stars first had bit roles on Bewitched.
From 1964 to 1972, the ABC supernatural sitcom starring Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha the “witch-with-a-twitch” Stephens, worked its magic for those like Adam West and Madge Blake, who later starred together on the network’s Batman series (1966–1969).
Before playing the Caped Crusader, West appeared in the Samantha segment, “Love is Blind,” while Blake, Bruce Wayne’s Aunt Harriet, guest starred in “The Witches Are Out.”
Soon-to-be-NBC Star Trek star James “Scotty” Doohan first appeared in the aptly-titled Bewitched episode, “A Strange Little Visitor.”
Peggy Lipton, who later waxed fashionably hip-hugger alongside Michael Cole and Clarence Williams III on ABC’s The Mod Squad (1968–1973) first played it cool in the Bewitched episode, “Your Witch is Showing.”
Ditto for Bill Daily, who just one year before playing Major Roger Healy on I Dream of Jeannie, guest-starred in the first of four Bewitched Christmas episodes: “A Vision of Sugar Plums.”
