I’ll never forget this throwback moment from the fall of 2009: when I passed Henry Kissinger and Tom Brokaw at a crosswalk in New York City.

In the fall of 2009, I was on a three-day assignment in New York City. At one point during my stay, I was crossing the street in the middle of Manhattan, when low and below, former and legendary NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw just so happened to run into, of all people, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

It was the first time they had seen each other in years. And there they were — the re-meeting of two great minds…right in front of me…on the crosswalk, and out of the blue. And I had just got my first smartphone and camera. Good thing, too!

I was the only one on the street who noticed this monumental reunion between Henry Kissinger and Tom Brokaw, which was bizarre in and out itself.
