Pope Francis Encourages Interfaith Tolerance to Heal the World
According to The Associated Press, Pope Frances ended his recent visit to Singapore by praising the tradition of interfaith harmony, concluding his four-nation journey through Asia with the same message of tolerance that he ignited from the trip's onset.
Francis presided over a gathering of young people representing a few religious and spiritual traditions in Singapore, where mosques, Buddhist temples, and Christian churches subsist.
In clear evidence that he was enjoying himself, Francis abandoned his original speech and urged the youths to reach beyond their comfort zones, even if it means making mistakes.
However, Francis eventually returned to the main topic to clarify the need for individuals of different faiths, religious, and spiritual creeds to engage in constructive dialogue rather than insisting on the righteousness of their particular beliefs.
“All religions are a path to arrive at God,” he said. “They are like different languages to arrive there. But God is God for all.”
