The Past Journey That Brought Me To My Present Destination
Please allow me to share, if just a portion of the journey that brought me to my present destination.
When I returned to L.A. in 2009, I was a lost soul. I had cared for my parents for 13 years in my hometown of Rochester, NY. Dad died in 1995, and then my Mom died in 2008.
After she left this world, I asked her, in my heart, “Mom…can I really go back to L.A…and start over again…at 48 years old?”
Her voice answered me in my heart, replied, “Go, Herbie J! Go!”
So, I was ready to leave Rochester…but for where?
Then, as if out of nowhere, seemingly, I received a sign:
I read somewhere online about an available Arts grant program in Rochester…one that would ultimately send me to LA to “explore opportunities.”
So, I applied for the grant…and got it. It wasn’t very much, only $600.00, but that was at least enough to get me to L.A.
And then a dear friend graciously invited me to stay in his CA home…while I “explored the opportunities”
Unfortunately, the opportunities didn’t pan out…
That is…until another friend asked me to lunch, and said, “Don’t go! I know someone who is looking to rent out the room where I once lived in…
