There is no “Magic Pill” to take to heal the world’s ills. But there is Hope and Peace.

There is no magic pill to take that will solve all of the world’s problems.

But there is hope. There’s always hope.

One of my favorite movies is Hope Floats (1998), which stars Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick, Jr. It’s not Dr. Shivago, and it doesn’t pretend to be. But it’s a sweet little cinematic adventure about the simple treasures of life, understanding, family, friendship, and finding true love however that may be defined.

And one of my favorite quotes is from Confucius, who said, “Lose expectation; gain everything.”

The truth is this:

We live in a broken world, and it can’t be fixed with a magical politician who will give everyone of every political party exactly what they want.

The world is an eclectic place of different religions, different thinking, different perspectives, and different people with different ideas and ideals, many of which are opposing.

That’s the way things are.

And while there may be a certain order to things amidst the perceivable chaos, one thing is for sure: the peace of mind, heart, soul, and country that we seek does not rest outside of ourselves with a magical political candidate, or a…
