My father shared a great deal of wisdom with me over the years, including two very sound pieces of advice regarding professional objectives and personal relationships:

“Never tell anyone anything about your career until it happens,” and in the area of romance, “never tell anyone who you like…including the one you like.”

To elaborate:

Concerning professional choices — speaking too soon about career objectives that are yet to be realized can sometimes be detoured or destroyed by the jealousy of others, and the sometimes too-proud and negative ethers of the universe.

Concerning personal relationships — if you tell someone you’re interested in them, you more times than not, destroy the magic and mystery of romance. So, don’t tell them a thing. Instead, show them; let your behavior, in the most respectful way, make it clear.

Blessings to All.
